Happy Mother’s Day! I hope the day finds you well and you enjoy it with friends and family. You are in our thoughts and
prayers here at St. Mark’s Church.
May is a special time in the Church. Along with celebrating
Mothers, it is also the month we honor our Blessed Mother:
Mary. In the sanctuary, there is a crowned statue of the Blessed Mother right next to our special font for Easter. Christ gave Mary to his disciples at the foot of the cross where he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciples, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (Jn 19:26-27) Especially during this month may we take the
Blessed Mother into our homes. Offer her a prayer of thanksgiving or a “Hail Mary” in honor of her being a Mother for us and for the whole Church. You can even say a “Hail Mary” while praying for the Red Sox. Whatever way you choose best to pray to her, choose one and get started, you will not regret it. Mary prays to her son on our behalf.
